Job Description
Perform daily cleaning and sanitization tasks, which may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
Empty and clean trash and recycling bins regularly, ensuring proper disposal and adherence to waste management guidelines.
Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors, to maintain a hygienic environment.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials, such as chemicals and biohazardous waste, following safety protocols and regulations.
Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
Maintain stocks of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring they are adequately stocked and in good working condition.
Report any maintenance or repair issues to the supervisor promptly, ensuring a safe and functional work environment.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols.
Assist in organizing and setting up rooms for meetings, events, or other special functions as required.
Provide assistance and support to other staff members or departments when necessary, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Sanitation worker required skills
Attention to detail and a strong work ethic to ensure high-quality cleaning and sanitization.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects.
Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, following safety guidelines.
Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Ability to work independently and take initiative while also being a dependable team player.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including evening or weekend shifts if required.
Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning agents.
Understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to follow protocols and procedures.
Required qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Previous experience in sanitation or cleaning roles is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations is desirable.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery is an asset.
Certifications in hazardous material handling or biohazardous waste disposal are advantageous.
