JOB TITLE: Grounds Maintenance Laborer

SUMMARY:
Perform a variety of duties from assisting customers with directions, unloading of recyclable materials and mattresses. Perform traffic control and coordination at transfer station, residential drop off areas and landfill as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet customers upon their arrival.
- Direct customers to proper unloading areas for materials.
- Asist customers with unloading of mattresses and recyclable materials.
- Perform litter control by picking up debris in your assigned areas
- Perform litter control on and off-site as needed.
- Clean buildings, including vacuuming, dusting, and janitorial duties.
- Load and unload deliveries.
- Asist operations with landfill cover requirements (Posi-Shell)
- Perform snow removal using powered or manual methods in your assigned areas
- Perform snow removal using powered or manual methods on and off-site as needed.
- Use two-way radio and telephone.
- Demonstrate continual effort to improve operations, reduce turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
- Work safely without presenting a threat to self or others and maintain good housekeeping.
- Clean and maintain assigned work area and any applicable equipment.
- Organize, clean, and manage incoming areas to maintain a clean and orderly appearance and exhibit a professional appearance.
- Communicate with Operations inside building and landfill to position in-bound vehicles safely and effectively.
- Manage customer traffic to avoid conflicts and safety issues and to maintain efficiency.
- Communicate with Supervisor regarding any needs for the area.
- Monitor receiving area, receptacles, and staging location volumes. Notify Supervisor when need arises to provide for emptying.
- Operating gas-powered landscaping equipment.
- Asist with landscaping duties mowing grass, planting
- Cleaning and power washing of equipment and vehicles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess current, valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate vehicles.
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Must obtain a RI Hoisting Engineer license within six months of employment.
- Ability to learn how to operate forklifts, skid steers, or small loaders to assist customers with loading and unloading.
- Must be able to work overtime hours as needed, including Saturdays.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively and tactfully with co-workers, management, and the public.
- A minimum of three months related experience in warehousing, moving materials, general labor, and/or janitorial work.
- Ability to understand assigned tasks and procedures to maintain/increase efficiency.
