Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with a long-standing, privately held manufacturer/retailer in Rochester to recruit a Director of E-Commerce.
Position Summary:
The Director of E-Commerce reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for spearheading the Company's e-commerce business strategy to achieve both short- and long-term commercialization and monetization goals through planning and executing strategies to lead the Company's presence across e-commerce platforms.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience in business development and strategy along with equal parts ideation and execution. The Director must provide an end-to-end perspective and lead the design and execution of the Company's e-commerce strategy through developing an e-commerce roadmap through a full lifecycle implementation program.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing, implementing, and optimizing e-commerce strategies and execution across the Company portfolio.
- Tracking daily e-commerce revenue and key metrics, leveraging them to inform partner, category, and platform-specific strategies and opportunities.
- Evaluating ways to grow and improve the e-commerce business across the Company portfolio to increase revenue both within and beyond existing strategy and products.
- Creating, defining, and analyzing metrics to measure the success of both sides of the Company's e-commerce business.
- Proactively identifying and implementing opportunities to improve product development including sourcing, sampling, and lead times.
- Building and managing P&L, including forecasting and tracking volume metrics, business drivers, and costs.
- Identifying new business development & revenue opportunities.
- Characterizing, pitching, and building opportunities to scale, increase revenue, and drive conversion.
- Driving strategy to reach annual revenue goals.
- Creating the best customer experience through all touch points with the customer (website, IG, packaging, customer service, etc.).
- Ensuring consistency and alignment of brand messaging across all communication channels.
- Developing and maintaining brand guidelines to uphold the organization's identity.
Competencies:
- As social media trends and algorithms evolve, capably and quickly adapt and be open to trying new strategies and techniques.
- Create diverse types of content such as images, videos, blog posts, and UGC-like tailored to different social media platforms.
- Ability to track key metrics (engagement, shares, likes) and derive insights to optimize campaigns and understand audience behavior.
- Confidently and effectively communicate to build and nurture the brand community to drive active follower engagement, respond to community comments, and foster interactive discussions.
- Understand and work within various social media platforms, understanding their features, and executing best practices for each platform.
- Use search engine optimization (SEO) to help optimize social media content for better visibility and reach. In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, analytics tools, and advertising strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and engage with diverse audiences.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, track KPIs, and generate actionable insights.
- Strong experience & understanding of the e-commerce environment including industry trends, platform updates, and emerging technologies to keep strategies innovative and effective.
- Demonstrated ability in growing an e-commerce business, with a primary focus on Confidently and effectively communicating in building and nurturing the brand community to drive active follower engagement, respond to community comments, and foster interactive discussions.
- Strong experience working with e-commerce software such as Shopify is preferred
- Business development and sales experience in e-commerce and digital media or related industry mix
- Demonstrated ability to structure & implement sales monetization/optimization strategies
- Demonstrated track record of identifying and executing successful partnerships and large-scale marketing deals, particularly in the e-commerce and digital media industries
- Strong track record of creating and achieving sales plans & revenue goals
- Ability to negotiate complex partnership opportunities & agreements
- Ability to both react to current business as well as the ability to anticipate future business trends
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 5 to 7 years' experience in e-commerce, experience with fashion and design, and ophthalmic optics are preferred.
- Experience in marketing communication, strategy development, and implementation.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media trends, and analytics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in managing external agencies and vendors.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
