Summary
The Office of the General Counsel is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and trustworthy Corporate Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The Corporate Paralegal will play a critical support role to the General Counsel and the broader legal department, handling sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion. This role involves assisting with a wide range of legal and administrative tasks across corporate law, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance in the cannabis industry. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, contributing to key corporate initiatives and ensuring legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide dedicated support to the General Counsel in drafting, reviewing, and revising a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate governance materials.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed summaries on various areas of the law and legal topics.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of confidential corporate records, including minutes, resolutions, and other governance documents.
  • Monitor multi-state cannabis laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and confidentiality in all filings and reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage confidential responses to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Provide general support for confidential legal projects and initiatives, including due diligence for corporate transactions.
  • Oversee and maintain the legal department’s confidential document management system, manage the company's legal matrix and insurance claims, and administer the intellectual property portfolio, ensuring meticulous handling and protection of sensitive information related to legal matters, registrations, and renewals.
  • Oversee the General Counsel’s scheduling, calendaring, and coordination of key deadlines for contracts, court dates, and renewals for licenses and permits.
  • Manage the legal inbox and draft correspondence on behalf of the General Counsel.
  • Coordinate and plan travel for the General Counsel, ensuring all arrangements are handled smoothly and efficiently.
  • Focus on bringing structure and organization to the department by managing and prioritizing administrative tasks effectively.
  • Assist with the implementation of company policies, standard operating procedures, and performance standards.
  • Ensure daily compliance with company policies, including but not limited to state/local regulation compliance, security protocols, access protocols, dress code, and work schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Comply with all HR policies, including confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred or three to five years related experience and/or training. Paralegal certification from an accredited institution preferred.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, industry-specific software, and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be 21 years of age or older.
