We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our finance team. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to play a key role in the financial management of our company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with state audits, and efficient month-end close processes. With a primary focus on construction in process (CIP) and work in process (WIP), this role offers a unique opportunity to apply your financial auditing skills in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Controller, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
2. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, ensuring all state audits are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
3. Coordinate the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
4. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in alignment with company policies and investment guidelines.
5. Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met.
6. Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process, administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
7. Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results.
8. Management of construction in process (CIP) and work in process (WIP) accounts.
9. Ensure compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensure filings are completed in a timely manner.
10. Develop and manage financial systems and policies, control and evaluate the organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline. A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) is highly desirable.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior finance role, ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization.
3. Proven experience in managing construction in process (CIP) and work in process (WIP) accounts.
4. Strong knowledge and experience in financial auditing, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
5. Experience with state audits and ensuring compliance with various financial regulations.
6. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
7. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
8. Ability to strategize and solve problems.
9. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
