Main Purpose of Job The State Board of Long-Term Care Administrators is the licensing authority of nursing home administrators in the State of Maryland. The main purpose of this position is to manage the staff and daily operations of the licensing and certification unit, which is responsible for the licensure of nursing home administrators and certification of preceptors for the Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program; additionally, this position provides oversight of the complaint process involving the entry, review, and tracking of complaints filed against licensed nursing home administrators, based on alleged violations under Title 9 of the Health Occupations Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland(Maryland Nursing Home Administrators Act) and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 10.33.01 (Nursing Home Administrators).
This position is eligible for hybrid telework (40% = 2 days weekly) which is subject to approval from the supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess:
- Experience and ability to effectively train and lead meetings
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Smartsheet, and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and personally identifiable information
- Experience working with the public, internal and external stakeholders, in a tactful and professional manner
- Experience with utilizing video conferencing programs (e.g. Google Meet, Zoom, WebEx, or Microsoft Teams)
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
